Following a fifth-place finish in the United Soccer League Western Conference and an early playoff exit in 2023, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks approach their 10th season with higher ambitions.

"Every team sets their sights on the USL title; our aim is to hoist the trophy in November," states head coach James Chambers. "We have specific objectives and milestones to reach, starting with a strong push for the playoffs. With a core group of returning players and established expectations, we're poised for success." This sense of anticipation largely arises from the team's continuity - the Switchbacks have secured playoff berths for the past three seasons and welcome back 12 players from last year's squad. According to Chambers, this familiarity fosters understanding of each other's personalities, character, and playing styles.

Switchback Key Players

Ronaldo Damus | Forward, No. 9

During the 2023 season, Damus played for the now-defunct San Diego Loyal SC, tallying 15 goals. Hailing from Haiti, Damus has also represented the Haitian senior national team. "He excels in transitional play and possesses a knack for finding the back of the net consistently," remarks Hogan.

Matt Mohoney | Defender, No. 5

Mahoney is in his fourth season with the Switchbacks and has grown into "one of the best defenders in the USL," Hogan says. "He has great composure, intelligence and understanding of forward defending."

Zach Zandi | Midfielder, No. 10

Following a significant injury that sidelined him for the majority of the 2023 season, Zandi makes a comeback as a crucial component of the Switchbacks' midfield. "Now that he's back to full health and can string together a series of matches, fans will have the opportunity to witness his talent more frequently, and I believe they'll recognize him as a truly exceptional soccer player," Hogan remarks.

Switchbacks vs. San Antonio FC | Saturday, October 12 at 6PM

This marks the last home game of the regular season, offering an opportunity for redemption. San Antonio FC knocked out the Switchbacks in the playoffs for the last two seasons. The theme for the night is Fan Appreciation.
