Work off those green beer calories by running the 5K for St. Patrick's Day. For the 39th year, runners will race on the flattest course in Colorado Springs. Feel free to don a kilt or other holiday-appropriate wear. Bring the little ones along to participate in the Leprechaun Fun Run, taking place immediately after the 5K. Race time is 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 11. Registration fee is $35 in advance and $40 the day of the race.

Whether or not you run the 5K, don't miss the 39th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Colorado Springs, held rain or shine. Food booths will line the parade route to provide sustenance during the 90-minute event. You can also watch from Paddy O'Pub, a pop-up tavern on Bijou that will serve beer and whiskey. Parade time is noon on Saturday, March 11. Tickets are available for grandstand seating, or get there early to grab one of the many free viewing spots along Tejon St.

Raise a pint of Guinness in honor of St. Paddy at Abby's Irish Pub. The city's 4th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade passes in front of the Cultural Center and Library, concluding in front of Gateway Elementary at the corner of Baldwin and Pikes Peak. The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, while the Pub/Food Crawl runs through Saturday, March 18.
